BIO
Domonique Jacobs is a visual artist born on New Providence, Bahamas. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Art Education at the University of the Bahamas.
She began her artistic journey at a very young age, but it was her college experience, where she was given the opportunity to work with many great Bahamian artists, that ultimately motivated her to explore such a diverse realm of artistic mediums which include painting, drawing, ceramics, crafts, calligraphy, and even hairstyling. Her works has reached the eyes of clients both locally and internationally in countries such as Brazil, United Kingdom and Nigeria. She’s exhibited in art galleries and annual events such as Doongalik Studios, The National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, and Miami Art Basel.
Domonique’s inspiration comes from many different forms of creative expressions that tell visual stories birthed from life’s experiences, the empowerment of black women, and the beauty of her island home. Her artistic core is intrigued by butterflies and their symbolism. Transformation, change, growth, endurance, hope and life. Presently her focus is building her craft, promoting self-love, teaching, and inspiring others through her work. She is passionate about her art and believes that all artists are capable of changing the world with their gifts.
